How to Convert Old Facebook Profile to New Facebook Timeline?
Yesterday, I watched Facebook F8 Developers Conference via its live streaming in its own fan page. Here, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO, discussed about some changes that will take effect in Facebook. And one of these is the re-imagination or re-invention of your profile or your Facebook profile through the use of TIMELINE.
Timeline tells the story of your life (or at least the part on Facebook) in three parts: Your stories, your apps, and a new way to “express who you are.” Stories appear at the bottom of the page, in the middle there are tiles to display all the apps and things you done with them, and on the right is a toggle displaying years where you click your time of choice to see what someone was doing way back when.
You can check out the recap of this conference via Digital Trends.
Facebook TIMELINE is currently available in beta stage, however, only developers (apps developers) can try to use it. Does it mean we have to wait for how many weeks before we experience this TIMELINE thing? Of course not! If TIMELINE is available to developers only, then make your status as developer. Getting a developer rights on Facebook is very easy.
Here are the few steps on getting the developer status on Facebook (via Digital Trends):
- You need developer access, so visit this link to start the process.
- Click “create a new app” and name it whatever you want. You’ll need to agree to the Platform Privacy Policy and then click “continue.” You’ll then go through a CAPTCHA.
- Then go to your app’s main settings screen and find “open graph” on the left hand side. After that, you’ll be send to “getting started using open graph.”
- Then test it. Type in any verb into the first box and any noun into the second and click “get started.” Then you’ll be taken to a new page where you should change default settings to whatever you desire. You’ll have to click through a couple pages of settings.
- Next time you go to the Facebook home page, there will be the option to try out Timeline on your homepage. If it doesn’t happen immediately, be patient, but this trick worked for us.
I tried those steps above and it became successful. My Facebook profile is now on TIMELINE. However, only developers will be able to see your new timeline during the developer release.

What can you say about this re-imagined Facebook profile? Hope to hear from you.
