Black Eyed Peas is coming once again to perform live in Manila on October 25 at Mall of Asia Concert ground.

Currently, eight (8) artists will be performing (“performing” is not the right word I guess, perhaps “leading the worship” is the appropriate one”), five from abroad and three local including Mr. Pure Energy, himself, Gary Valenciano.

After their 2 recent successful events – Hillsong United Aftermath Tour and Hillsong Conference with Steve Mcpherson, here comes BECCA Music again as they bring another event for Christians dubbed as SAVED FESTIVAL 2011. The festival will be held on November 26 at the Araneta Coliseum, 6 PM.

What is Saved Festival 2011 all about?

Quoting from the official website of Saved Festival 2011:

SAVED FESTIVAL 2011 is going to rally local churches in the Philippines to rise up to the true calling of a SAVED life in Jesus Christ, who is worthy of all glory and honor and praise!

These days, many people call themselves Christians, but how many continue to live a compromised life? How many belittle the ultimate sacrifice on the cross by continuing their sinful ways? This is the heart of SAVED FESTIVAL 2011, which will launch the BIGGEST praise and worship event and the first festival of its kind in the country, with the emphasis on “Christ-likeness”!

Our conviction is to remind Christians that accepting Christ does not end with the sinner’s prayer, but is a continuous commitment to turn away from sin and focus on a relationship with God. Even those of us who serve in church and are leaders in our spiritual family can still be compromising certain areas of our lives.

The Saved Festival 2011 is for the benefit of Worship Project.

As shown at the logo, Worship Project aims to train worship leaders and improve the instruments of selected local churches. Basically, they will be selecting churches who are in need of better instruments and further training on music and worship. They believe that our worship to the almighty God should be nothing short of excellent.

Who are the artists to be expected in the Festival?

Four Christian artists were already announced from the official website of Saved Festival who will be joining the said festival, namely: Parachute Band (New Zealand), Martin Smith of Delirious? band (UK), Quest (our very own Pinoy artist) and Citipointe Live (Australia).

But more artists will be announced this coming month of September. So I suggest to like their Facebook fan page and official website in order to be the first to know.

Planning to attend the Hillsong Publishing Music Conference Manila this coming July 16 but wondering who Steve McPherson, the resource speaker of the said conference, really is? Let me share this profile of his:

Steve McPherson is the head manager of Hillsong Publishing in Sydney, Australia, with extensive experience as a worship leader, vocalist, performer, producer and songwriter. He has over 15 years of experience in music publishing and copyright administration, managing one of the most active publishing catalogues in Christian music ever to come out of Australia.

With a background in songwriting and performing, Steve is most well-known for co-writing the worship song, “Jesus, Lover of My Soul”, a song sung in churches all over the world. For 10 years, Steve worked under Darlene Zschech in the leadership and management of the Hillsong worship team, holding many roles such as Vocal Director, Producer, Vocal Producer, Head Pastor, and worship leader.

Industry involvements:

• Board member of the Gospel Music Association of Australia and New Zealand
• Member of the Board of Advisors to Christian Copyright Licensing International—Asia Pacific (CCLI)

After Hillsong United’s Aftermath tour here in Manila last June 2, here’s another from Hillsong Publishing – the Music Conference Manila, July 16, 2011 from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. This will be held at 5/F CCF Auditorium St. Francis Square Bldg., Julia Vargas Ave., corner Bank Drive, Ortigas Center (beside SM Megamall & Podium).

The Head Manager of Hillsong Publishing, Steve Mcpherson will be the speaker in this conference and he will share his knowledge on worship leading, copyright laws, and song writing.

Ticket is priced at P1000 only but if you will buy before June 30, 2011 (early bird rate) you can get it at P800 only. The ticket price includes workbooks containing the topics to be discussed.

I am bloging this not because I am a fan of Justin Bieber. I am not a “BELIEVER” of Justin Bieber.

Last night was the first ever concert of Justin Bieber here in Manila, entitled “MY WORLD” and it happened in SM Mall of Asia. I haven’t watched or heard any news about the concert from our local news TV, Saksi or Bandila or Aksyon TV. However, I just saw my former student’s wall update in her facebook about the concert. No, she didn’t watch the concert but she happened to be in SM Mall of Asia and heard few songs. She also mentioned that the concert lasted for an hour only because Justin Bieber was sick. This information, though, is not verified. If you were able to watch Bieber’s concert, can you please validate this claim?

Anyway, if that is true, perhaps, many “Believers” are disappointed Especially those who paid for Gold A/Gold B tickets of P5200.

I’ve heard from a reliable source that Desperation Band is coming here in Manila (Philippines) this year. However, we don’t know yet when it will happen. But they will come here for sure.

Desperation Band or DBand, for short, led by Jon Egan, is the band behind the following worship albums:

• Light Up the World (2009);
• Sessions and Remixes (2007);
• Everyone Overcome (2006);
• Who You Are (2006);
• From the Rooftops (2004);
• Desperation: Live Worship for a Desperate Generation (2003)

I remember I got their very first albums not in CD format but in cassette tape.

Desperation Band was first formed in 2001, when New Life Church pastor David Perkins suggested that Jon Egan, Jared Anderson, and Glenn Packiamplay together with their bands at the first Desperation Conference.
