Growing and Grooming Your Online Business

Now you have established your website, your niche and target market for your online business, what’s next? Just like the “offline business”, you need to attract customers who will buy your products, goods or services. Since you are just starting up on your business, you may need a consultant or adviser. Grant Atkins can be a good choice should you wish to get a service of a consultant.

Who is Grant Atkins? He is a businessman and management consultant that specializes in new enterprise development and business start ups for both public and private corporations. Mr. Atkins graduated from Commerce at the University of British Columbia in 1986 specializing in urban land economics and finance. With over 30 years of hands on business experience, he utilizes his formal training and a practical approach to help companies mature from inception through all stages of private and public growth.

Going back to growing and grooming your online business. How can you get more customers to your online business?

Here are my few tips:

  1. Review your google analytics account regularly. If you haven’t register your website to google analytics, better start it now. Analytics is a very good tool where you can evaluate the performance of your website. You can see from there the words that are still working or find other keywords that will bring more traffic.
  2. Use a program that can show you what keywords are popular, how competitive they are, how much they are worth in advertising dollars and more.
  3. Expand what you offer and learn methods of online marketing and start learning search engine optimization.
  4. If you’re not confident about learning SEO, you may outsource it. Sometimes SEO job can consume most of your time, so better outsource it and set aside your time doing research on expanding your business.

Getting customers for your online business requires dedication and time. So use your time properly and wisely.

Integration of Legal System, Computer and Internet

Ever wondered if we can integrate the work of attorneys or law firms with computer technology and internet? I even wonder if attorneys require an in-depth knowledge about computers and internet or cloud computing. Because most of the attorneys I know are workaholic and I didn’t see them held a PC or surf the internet that much. I also think if they can still manage to do administrative job, especially for those who are freelancer.

Those question kept on playing in my mind until I found Morgan Drexen Inc. and its CEO, Walter Ledda. Morgan Drexen Inc. provides support to attorneys and law firms, from computer systems to administrative tasks. They’re forte is on providing legal services to near-bankrupt and bankrupt debtors.

Morgan Drexen provides attorneys and law firms computer technology, marketing support, call centers, predictive business logic, artificial intelligence, outsourced outsourced litigation support, proprietary know-how and databases, and work-product retrieval systems, with cloud computing, facilitated by the Company’s outsourced Legal Specialists (paralegals, paraprofessionals, administrators, legal information engineers, and software and user interface designers).

So with the services they provide, attorneys and law firms can now leave the administrative and legal work to Morgan Drexen and they can focus much time on growing their business or working on their clients’ strict or non-strict requirements.

Since Morgan Drexen provides services with the integration of cloud computing, doing business online by the law firms becomes more efficient and effective. I can’t imagine how the attorney’s assistant while inside the courtroom will be able to make a research and open files that were left in the office but saved in online storage provided by Morgan Drexen Inc.

Morgan Drexen Inc.’s service is an outsourcing business. And nowadays, most of the outsourced functions are being done online. Just like me, I do provide accounting services to my clients abroad and that’s online business.

You can keep yourself updated about Morgan Drexen by following walter ledda twitter account. I just followed him now.

Mara Clara March 30, 2011 Episode: Despicable Me

So my question of where the money of Gary is from my previous post has been answered by yesterday’s episode of Mara Clara. Lola Lupe got the money and buried in their backyard. The follow-up question would be: how will it be discovered? Who will tell its whereabout now that Lola Lupe is suffering from stroke?

Gru of Despicable Me (via Google)

Remember Gru of Despicable Me animated movie? He’s the super-villain who aims to steal the earth moon, a plan he has had since childhood but was discouraged by his mother. He’s a master schemer, isn;t he? We could say that he’s better than Vector who is another villain in the movie and is the one who stole the pyramid in Egypt.

What’s the connection of this movie with Mara Clara? We can compare Gru’s intelligent schemes on stealing the earth moon against Gary’s schemes of taking Alvira from Amante. They’re both driven by their innermost desires.

That is covetousness. An envious eagerness to possess something. The Ten Commandments of God instructs us not to covet thy neighbor’s goods.

However, Gru turns into good, from evil, at the end of the movie. What made him changed? Love. Truly love changes everything into good.

Will Gary become good at the end of Mara Clara? Will he change? Will he die good or bad?

Honestly speaking, I am getting angry on Gary. His evilness, if such word exists, is abominable. Well, Jong Hilario plays the character of Gary excellent.

The Making of Online Business Success

I was browsing the internet when I bumped into Mr. Gordon Brent Pierce. Not physically, but through his website. Gordon Brentpierce is a successful businessman who has more than 35 years of experience in business venture development. His experiences are focused on start-up business development. He’s expertise is on finance, mergers and acquisitions, and new business ventures. He is the founder and CEO of Pierco Management Inc. When you try to read his website, you’ll discover more of him. I’m sure you’re going to envy him because of his success.

Now, I tried to connect Mr. Pierce’s successes into online business. If Mr. Pierce has become successful in his career and business, the question is: can we become successful with online business? I consider myself now as engaged in online business, somehow, through blogging. And when we say online business, it’s not limited to blogging only. There are people who are maintaining websites which they use in selling their products or other people’s products.

Let me go back to my original question. How can we really be successful with our online business? Let me share to you few tips for online success:

  1. Think positive. You will experience ups and down on your business. Sometimes you will encounter days with very few traffic coming in to your website. Don’t be discouraged. Be positive. Perhaps, tomorrow is your day.
  2. Capital is not an issue. Online business does not require big capitalization. And sometimes it requires no capital outlay. I know people who are into blogging and using free blog hosting only and yet they are earning. To be honest with you, my girlfriend and I started this blog with more or less $50 only. And now, after four months, we’re close to break-even.
  3. Let your passion drive you. Stick to what you love to do, whether it’s sports, food and beverages or bags. The more you love it, the more you are doing it and the more you are enriching it.
  4. Research. Once you’re ready to start the business based on your passion, spend some time to check the viability of the business.
  5. Buy a domain name and build your website. Register a domain that is catchy and can be easily remembered. The website should be clear and does not clutter the information.
  6. Create network. No, I didn’t mean connecting one PC to another. You need to establish your relationship with other “online businessmen.” You can do it online, through different social networking websites, and “offline”.
  7. Join an affiliate network. Being an affiliate, you can earn commissions by selling other people’s or companies’ product and services.

We could say that opening a business online is opening your business to billions of people on the web. What a pretty much number of market, isn’t it?

One Good Life After Retirement

What kind of life would you like to have after you retire from being an employee or from running a business? Your answer would definitely be ONE GOOD LIFE, wouldn’t it?

Or have you already thought about what your life will be when you retire? Perhaps some of you would say that you are prepared but many will, perhaps, say that they aren’t. Perhaps, you may be thinking that there’s no certainty about the future so why we can say that “I am safe” when I reach the retirement age.

Actually, we can prepare for our retirement. We just need to educate ourselves about it and open our mind and hearts on it. In addition, you need to have a partner in preparing for your retirement in order for you to have a financial security when you reach that age. A partner which is tested and we can depend on. The trusted partner I know is Bankers Life and Casualty.

Bankers Life and Casualty Company has been in the industry for more than 130 years. For me, this is the first thing to consider in choosing you’re partner in preparing for your retirement: how long the company has been existing. It’s obvious that Bankers Life Casualty Company is a seasoned company. I believed it surpassed different turmoils of time. Staying alive for more than a century reflects a good management of every aspect of the business. Trusted and tested.

Second factor to consider in choosing your partner for retirement is the products and services being offered. Bankers Life and Casualty Company (Bankers) offers the following product:

  1. Medical supplement insurance.
  2. Long term care/Home health care insurance. Bankers provides benefits that help pay for nursing home care, home health care and comprehensive care. Based on the statistics, at the age of 65, 40% of the average Americans spends some time in a nursing home. Should the need for you to stay in a nursing home, BLCC is more than willing to help.
  3. Life insurance. Bankers offers a diversified insurance products that provide dependable protection for your family’s future.
  4. Annuities. Bankers helps in building a better retirement through annuities.
  5. Medicare’s prescription drug coverage. Bankers helps in covering the health care expenses that Medicare requires you to pay.
  6. Medicare advantage. Bankers offers low cost or no cost medical plan through Medicare Private Fee-for-Service health plans. Some of the benefits include: choosing your doctors with no referrals, no deductibles, no copays for important preventive screening tests and physical exams and predictable copays for most services.

Now we have already known the two important factors on choosing the right partner for our retirement, it’s now time to make a move and start planning for our future.

Mara Clara March 29, 2011 Episode: Show Me the Money

Have you seen yesterday’s episode (March 28, 2011) of Mara Clara? Exciting isn’t it? The revelation of the secret of Utoy and Mara will be revealed soon. It’s getting sooner actually.

What’s in store for us in today’s episode of Mara Clara? As we have seen from yesterday’s teaser, Clara will discover that Mara is still alive. How? She’s in the house of Christian and she will see Mara’s photos from the DSLR left by Christian in the sala (not sure if it’s sala). As I mentioned in my previous post about March 17 episode of Mara Clara, the photos from that DSLR will reveal the secret of the two. Anyway, it has been revealed already as seen from yesterday’s episode.

There’s one big question hanging on my mind since last week. That is the whereabout of Gary’s money, should I say the ransom money paid by Del Valles to Gary’s goons. Who took the money? Was it Lola Lupe? If you could recall, she’s the one who discovered the money which Gary has been hiding under his bed. But if Lola Lupa got it, where did she bring it?

Should you have a hint of the whereabout of money, kindly leave your comment below.

Based on the trailer of today’s episode shown from March 25 episode, the revelation of Christian or Utoy’s and Mara’s secret will be revealed finally. But I guess not to all people. As seen from the trailer or teaser, Susan David, portrayed by Mylene Dizon, will already know that Mara is alive. He was accompanied by Christian/Utoy to the apartment where Mara is staying. However, we can also see that Gary followed Christian while the latter is going to a certain house. We just can’t tell right now, if it is the house where Mara stays or if yes, will Gary be able to discover the “SECRET”?

What other things can we expect for this week from Mara Clara? Will Carlos Diego Loyzaga finally appear? Let’s wait and see.

So don’t miss any episode this week of Mara Clara. We’ll see more revelations to come, more twist.

Maximize Your Equity by Using Interest Minimizer Program

Having trouble with your high accumulating financial debts? Interest payments are becoming delinquents. Penalty fees and surcharges are becoming unmanageable. Now, perhaps you’re asking if there’s a way to get out of this situation. Is there a device or plan available that can help you minimize your interest expenses or perhaps save interest fees?

The good news is, THERE IS!

There is a interest minimizer program developed by Nationwide Biweekly Administration which started in April 2009. According to them, ‘they will save customers interest on automotive loans, student education loans and credit debt.’

Nationwide Biweekly devised a program called Interest Minimizer Program.  This program can accelerate payments thus the loans finish quicker than the maturity date and another result is interest charges are reduced significantly. Actually if we only know, we are paying unnecessary interest payments from our financial debts and this results to decrease in our equity.

Upon knowing this, I was really amazed that there is this kind of plan or device which can accelerate your financial debt payments and can save you interest expenses.

Let’s take for example a house mortgage with a monthly payment of $1,000 for 30 years. With this regular term there’s no savings from interest and you’ll finish the mortgage after 30 years only. But if you will shift to weekly or biweekly payments under the Interest Minimizer Program, you can eliminate almost 6 years of payment, meaning you can pay off your mortgage after 24 years, and reduce total interest payments by $50,000. What a big savings, isn’t it?

So what are you waiting for? You better call Nationwide Biweekly Administration and sign-up with them. Don’t you worry, when you call them up you will be entertained politely by their courteous representatives.

Better act now so you can manage your debt and save from interest expenses and NBA is interested in helping you.

Verizon iPhone 4: A Review

It’s been six weeks since Verizon started selling the Apple’s iPhone 4. The monopoly of distributing iPhone by AT&T has been broken and now AT&T is now sharing the market with Verizon Wireless.

What can we say now with the Verizon iPhone 4?

Actually, AT&T iPhone 4 is almost identical with Verizon’s. However, Verizon boasts of the 7-hour talk time, 6 hours internet time, and 10 hours of video time of its iPhone 4. Before I continue with this review, Verizon iPhone 4 Accessories are one of the advantages over AT&T’s iPhone 4. An example of which is the car charger which can be used by iPhone 4 users while on the road.

I’ve heard a lot of complains from AT&T subscribers with regards to the signal strength. AT&T seems to be overcrowded already. Although they offer higher network speed than Verizon (AT&T’s network speed is 7 mbps vs. 3 mbps of Verizon), due to overcrowding the network speed becomes slower. This means that you can be heard better by other people and you can hear them better.

Another good thing about Verizon iPhone 4 is the unlimited data plan and its capability to be uses as mobile hotspot. With an additional $30 per month, you can enjoy unlimited data plan. As in internet ’til you drop. And for an extra $20 a month, Verizon iPhone 4 can be used as wireless hotspot where you can connect up to five (5) devices to the Web.

It’s good that Verizon is now offering its version of iPhone 4. People have now another option on choosing which network for their iPhone 4.

Yeah! It’s Fun to Be Back to School

Summer vacation is ending soon and school time is nearly coming!

I remember when I was still young, everyday during summer vacation I kept on asking my mom when the school year will start again. Everyday I was wishing that when I wake the following day, it would be back-to-school time already. But it doesn’t mean I don’t love summer vacation, of course, I do. I just loved school time more than summer vacation. I just also hate the feeling of missing everything about the school – my friends, classmates, teachers, the playground, the recess time, very good teachers, canteen.

What I was telling were quite bad things about summer vacation, and what’s good about going back to school? Let me tell you what the fun things are about going back to school.

New school year, new school stuff as well. Right? Before going back to school my mom would ask us of the new stuff we want for the coming school year. I remember one of the new things I would like to have in school was a quilted backpack with my name embroidered on it, and Stephen Joseph quilted backpacks are one of a kind.

My mom would also buy me lunch tote where I could pack my food and drink. She didn’t miss any single day to prepare a lunch for me and my sisters.

Our school also requires a nap mat with blanket and pillow attached on it.  This stuff would not be excluded from back-to-school list my mom prepared.

Going back to school was one of the much awaited time of the year for me when I was a child. I consider school as my second home where I could find friendship, belongingness, caring, aside of course from wisdom and knowledge which my teachers shared to us.

Earth Hour Goes Techie

I was inspired when I read a news about Earth hour that will be observed on Saturday, March 26, from 8:30 – 9:30 in the evening. I am happy that even the government officials and some personalities, not only in the Philippines but all over the world, are encouraging people not just to turn off their lights but go beyond what is expected to do.

Organized by the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) in Sydney, Australia four years ago, Earth Hour is now a worldwide phenomenon. Yearly, millions of people are participating in this event by turning off their lights to show their love for our Mother Earth.

This year, the Earth Hour goes techie. WWF has partnered with a Leo Burnett Group to come up with an iPhone app, called 60+, that is meant to encourage the user to think about ways to help the environment for the rest of the year.

According to Manila Bulletin, the app is meant to work in almost the same way as location-based apps; users are given certain eco-friendly tasks they have to accomplish (like using a fan instead of air-conditioning) and the more tasks they accomplish, the more merit badges they get.

Cool, isn’t it?

Earth Hour this year here in the Philippines will take place tomorrow , Saturday, March 26 from 8:30 to 9:30 PM.

Tips on How to Survive B.S. Accountancy

Second semester has just ended for some universities and colleges here in the Philippines. This season is the time of joy and crying, at the same time for the students. Joy because it’s vacation time for those students who don’t have summer classes and this is the time of graduation for some. Crying for those who didn’t make it to the graduation day or for those who have failing grades.

That is my experience every time second semester ends in the university I am teaching in. There are always 2 emotions that prevail – HAPPINESS & SADNESS, especially in the course of Bachelor of Accountancy. There are 2 year levels that the BSA students in our school that students are “afraid” of. Sophomore (2nd year) and Senior (4th year). We have qualifying exams for 2nd year students who were not able to maintain a grade of 2.0 in their major subjects and evaluation exams for 4th year students. Wherein if they did not pass the 2 exams, 2nd year students will be forced to shift to another course or transfer to another school should they insist to pursue Accounting and the senior will not graduate.

Whether we admit it or not, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy is not an easy course but there’s one thing I know, we can survive Accountancy. Let me share to you the 4Ps of surviving accountancy according to MR. CPA.

The 4 Ps are:

  1. Perseverance
  2. Preparation
  3. Practice
  4. Prayer

Perhaps, I will hear from you that you know those things already. Well, knowing is different from making it a lifestyle. Yes, make it a lifestyle and I am sure you’ll make it to the finish line – becoming Certified Public Accountant.

The Birth of A New Top-Level Domain: .XXX

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers or ICANN has approved the implementation of the .XXX top-level domain (TLD) last March 18.

This move of ICANN, however, led a group of pornographers or adult webmasters to protest against the implementation of the said TLD.

The protesters complains of the increase in domain name charges, $60 to $70 per domain, the government can easily ban or censor .XXX websites and it may connote that they are irresponsible. Some of the protesters threaten also that they will file a lawsuit if .XXX is approved.

On the other hand, ICM Registry is the company behind .XXX TLD.  .XXX, according to them, gives an identifiable mark for those who patron adult entertainment and for those who do not want to come into contact with porn sites. In other words, if you want to avoid adult contents, you can easily block those websites with an extension name of .XXX even without using expensive software. To learn more about .XXX and why we need it, please click here.

Most of the obscene websites are using .com TLD, and because of that you’ll never know that a website is pornographic or not, unless you enter the website or unless the domain name clearly identifies it is a porn site.

The decision of ICANN will surely rocks the online adult entertainment industry, however, this will surely makes the internet a safer place to explore.

What is your opinion on this?

How to Deal With Negative Online Reputation?

Reputation is one of the precious assets of an individual. Perhaps, all of you will agree that you value your name, integrity or reputation. You will not do nor say any thing that may put your reputation in danger. And of course, we do the same with our company name, products and brands.

But, what if one day, while trying to search for your name or brand through different search engines, you find a number of negative comments about you or your product? What will you do?

We could say that negative comments result to negative reputation. And there’s a lot of people who are in the process of buying or searching for a certain product or service will do some searching first before they buy. I belong to this group of people. Before I buy something in the internet, I would see to it that I exhausted every effort to find a review about the product I want to buy. If I see a number of negative comments, I will surely abandon the product.

Actually, there’s a website where you can report your negative experiences with the product or service you just bought. It’s the ripoffreport.com. But the sad thing is that not all reports in this website are true. Some reports were meant to destroy other people’s or companies’ products or brands.

Is there a way to remove those negative comments? Yes, there is! That is where a reputation management firm or group comes in. One of its kind is Manage Your Online Reputation (.com). This group can “clean” your reputation and can build your brand online from the ground up. They can also remove ripoff report about your company, brand or product.

So worry not. If your brand is suffering from negative online reputation, Manage Your Online Reputation is there to rescue.

Firefox 4 is Here

Yesterday, I received a newsletter from Mozilla with a big image and statement that says “Firefox 4 is here” (see image below). I can’t recall about hearing this version 4 of Firefox before. Anyway, I was thankful that I subscribed to the newsletter so I was informed immediately of this latest news about Firefox.

This release of the latest Firefox version happened few days after Microsoft released the Internet Explorer version 9.

I immediately installed Firefox 4 in my laptop (Internet Explorer 9 was installed in my laptop when it became available in the the internet few days ago). See how does Firefox 4 look like:

Mozilla Firefox 4 boasts the following features:

  • Browsing made easy
  • High performance
  • Advanced security
  • Powerful personalization
  • The cutting edge
  • Universal access

However, I just observed that the interface of Mozilla 4 (and the Internet Explorer 9) resembles that of Google Chrome. I bet you will agree on this.

If you want to try it, you may download Mozilla Firefox 4 here.

How Does Supermoon Look Like?

Were you able to gaze the beauty of the so-called SUPERMOON last Saturday, March 19? How many of you got frustrated because SUPERMOON was hiding at the back of thickening clouds?

I heard from different news program that the “full-blown” supermoon started at around 3:00 AM. I was already sleeping that time, I think, so I didn’t see it.

Let me share to you an image of SUPERMOON taken at around 5:30 AM in SLEX, short for South Luzon Expressway. Thanks to my former student who allowed us to show this photo here in Think Like A Beginner.

It’s awesome, isn’t it? When I first saw this photo, I was really amazed at how Supermoon really looks like.

Bringing Back the Glory of Your Brand

You wake up one morning, browse a few sites from the internet and then you see your name or your company’s brand or name mentioned in one of the sites you are browsing. You’re happy to see it thinking that something good has mentioned about you or your company. But you are wrong. Instead, a NEGATIVE COMMENT was given on the said website about you or your brand. What will you do? How will you feel?

That is INTERNET SLANDER. When you try to google it, the definition of this term from different websites is almost the same. It’s a form of slander which is posted to Internet websites, forums, bulletin boards, or discussion boxes to defame a person or company or destroy the reputation of that person, company or brand.

So let’s go back to my previous question. What will you do when the said things happen? Fight back by leaving negative comments to the author? Not a good idea. Defend yourself by refuting the slanderous statement? Will people believe you?

Don’t underestimate the power of internet slander. It may kill your business in a gradual pattern. We can’t control the mind of our customers. They may or may not believe. And for those who do not believe, they may spread the negative comments on you to their friends, relatives, workmates, etc.

Now to solve your problem, I suggest you look for the services of a REPUTATION MANAGEMENT company. The SEO SERVICES of this company will remove the negative comments or opinions about your name or brand and will push positive contents. The best reputation management company has the following services:

  • Analyze at depth your corporate or personal profile
  • Show weakpoints in your online presence
  • Positive content push strategy
  • Negative content pull strategy
  • Continual maintenance program
  • 24×7 brand monitoring

What are you waiting for? Go and find a reputation management firm and save your name or brand.
